The tool can help to patch the firmware file we downloaded in iTunes (which is like iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw). iPhoniacs did a review of a much needed search utility for the iPhone with basic installation instructions. I wish Apple had put a Searchlight style 'Search Lite' (erm..) on the iPhone to begin with. Still the latest version of this app allows you to search contacts and calendar entries. Simon suggested Notes & Email also which seems good to me..
