HTC prepping 1080p HD Video capture and Tablets!

Having got off to a slow start with the critically acclaimed and criminally overlooked Samsung i8910 HD, HD video recording is now enjoying mainstream success with the excellent . Clearly Samsung have taken heart from Sony Ericsson’s performance and are set to introduce their second HD phone in May in the shape of the . And, with rumours of an and on the cards, it seems other manufacturers are now sitting up and taking notice. And now, we can add HTC to that list who have confirmed HD video capture is definitely on the horizon.
Speaking at a press conference in South Africa, local HTC MD Quinton Leigh confirmed that are working on implementing HD video capture in upcoming releases. But not just content with following suit, HTC are keen to innovate and push boundaries and will do so by coming to the table with a phone capable of full 1080p HD video capture! As if this wasn’t enough, will be pairing the best in class video quality with 5.1 audio for an all round AV experience. No precise word on when we can expect 1080p HD video phones just yet but early indications suggest late 2010 ear;y 2011.
Leigh also had one more bombshell to drop on the gathered press; HTC are working on a tablet device. With the recent (and hugely successful) launch of the in the US, it seems companies are falling over themselves to release a comparable product. HTC’s answer to the iPad is expected to run Google’s OS and could potentially have data connectivity baked in (ala’ the 3G iPad).
