As you can imagine… I love blogs. I not only love my informational, news, iPhone, hacking blogs but I also love my mom, cooking, baking, decorating blogs. I know… it can be a strange combination at times. So, like every blogaholic, I need a good RSS reader application. I have found Byline to nicely suit my needs and after today’s update to the app (version 3.0)… I just had to pass it along.
I’m not going to walk you through every feature and detail of this app (you can check out the below App Store Description for that) but, I will point out a few things that I like about it.

I have to admit… I have recently become a slight craigslist addict and Craigsphone is my app of choice. Yesterday, the app received an update. The update is a vast improvement over the previous version. Where things used to look messy and thrown together they now look sleek and clean… even the icon has a new look!

With a stunning selection of now on the market running Google’s Android operating system, there’s never been a better reason to join the Android revolution. From the stunning and to the and , there’s an Android phone to suit all your needs. But, just in case you needed further convincing that Android is the OS to get behind, here’s one more; the Android Market app store just passed the 50,000 app mark!
Any is only as good as its app store with both the quantity and quality of apps a real deal breaker for many when choosing which phone to plump for. In this respect, the iPhone remains top of the pile with over 200,000 apps on offer but is catching up fast with over 9000 apps added in March alone. Expect that to have been topped this month now that the Android market has hit the 50,000 app milestone.
The rate of growth for a platform that’s only been around for a year and a half is quite incredible but the really exciting aspect for Android users is that of those 50,000 apps on offer, over 65% of them are absolutely free. At this rate, it will only be a matter of time until Android has caught iPhone OS and leveled the playing field. .
Stop the presses, something huge just happened in the App Store; has approved a 3rd party web browser and added it to the virtual shelves of their all conquering app store! That’s right, the Opera Mini for app has been approved by Steve Jobs and co. and is now ready to be downloaded free in the app store!
We’ve been covering this story for some time, ever since we first caught glimpses of the Opera browser playing nicely with Apple’s iPhone back in February at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. The browser, just like it’s various other incarnations for the various operating systems and Java enabled feature phones, compresses web pages by up to 90% offering lightening quick load times for web pages.
This compression not only drastically improves loading times but also lowers data costs as well, something that will come in handy for those who have switched their contracts to pay as you go in the run up to the inevitable launch of the .
Whilst it would have seemed a no brainer for you or i, the fact remained that Apple had yet to approve a single third party web browser in the app store up until this point. But, the guys behind Opera for iPhone were adamant that they’d gone through the terms for apps with a fine tooth comb and it would appear they were right! Opera Mini for iPhone is available free in the App store now, check it out on your today.
Augmented reality apps are coming thick and fast in the app store and it seems you just can’t get enough of them. The idea behind augmented reality apps is quite simple. Using the iPhone’s camera, apps are able to combine what’s in the viewfinder with various different sources of information, from detailed information about the stars above you with Star Walk to all your local restaurants and fast food joints with AroundMe. Now, we can add another great use of augmented reality to that list with the arrival of Mr.Photo in the app store.
Mr.Photo (Mixed Reality Photo) is the first to allow texture tracking on the iPhone, allowing you to augment a segment of your surroundings with your own content. In short, add your own images to the real world using the iPhone’s camera. Highly intuitive and simple to use, the Mr.Photo lets you create an endless number of fun and fantastic photos that can then be shared with everyone through the app itself. Simply define and set the texture you want to add your content to, take a photo, choose what personal content you’d like to add and then when you look at the area using your Mr.Photo app, your content will appear on the pre-defined area.
Create your own billboards in Leicester Square, add your face to famous paintings and much more, your imagination really is the limit. Available in the app store now, free for a limited time only, check it out and start personalising your surroundings today.
We’ve been following this one ever since we first caught wind of it at last months Mobile World Congress and for good reason as, if successful, it could mark the start of a wave of copy-cat apps. For those unfamiliar with the origins of this story, is an port of the popular web browser currently used on over 50 million phones worldwide. Opera were showing off the app playing nicely with an iPhone at MWC but now the app has taken one step closer to an official release; Opera have submitted the app to Apple for approval!
The Opera Mini web browser is unique as it boasts the ability to load pages faster by compressing web pages by up to 90% for even faster load times whilst this compression occurs on a remote server saving your phone from any unnecessary processing. Initial tests carried out by Opera themselves proved the Opera Mini browser was up to 6 times faster than the iPhone’s built in Safari browser. And not only does this improve speed but also reduces data usage, not something your average iPhone user will worry about in the UK thanks to inclusive data but definitely something to consider when using your abroad.
From the above, it seems it should be a no-brainer for Apple to approve Opera Mini for iPhone but the problem is, Apple has yet to approve a single third party web browser app for the iPhone. Opera are adamant they’ve followed all the submission guidelines to the finest detail but whether this will be enough for the sometimes overbearing Apple remains to be seen. Keep an eye on the and we’ll let you know as soon as the Opera Mini for iPhone app is green lit or rebuffed.
