It would appear old habits die hard over in Espoo, Finland. Hot on the heels of the official unveiling of the , Nokia’s first Symbian ^3 device complete with a multi-touch capacitive , have announced the must have accessory for all old-school touchscreen fans; a stylus.
Whilst this may not sound like breaking news (it’s hard to get excited about what’s essentially a pen that doesn’t write) bear with us on this and you’ll see why you should be intrigued. Capacitive touchscreen displays, which have been put to excellent use in the and , don’t typically play nice with your average stylus as they respond to the electrical conductivity of your skin rather than just pressure. Not only does this rule out the use of a stylus, it also makes operating your touchscreen phone with gloves nigh on impossible.
Fear not though, as are set to release a stylus compatible with the companies capacitive offerings such as the recently announced N8 and first capacitive touchscreen the . The stylus is said to help you “easily enter and personalise information on your compatible phone’s capacitive touch screen” and is collapsible and comes complete with a strap to attach to your phone of choice. No word on pricing or availability yet but expect this to start shipping when the launches in the second half of the year.
